Interests:Right now I'm just making it through the day! It is a challenge when I have to work outside in 100 degree weather, occasionally with a torch! But in general, life is good, with an occasional twist that keeps me on my toes!
Sports:I like to watch the UFC, MMA fighting, and occasionally boxing.
Music:I've been on a Nina Simone kick as of late, but I'm open to almost everything! I even have an appreciation for Norteno, a fairly new discovery and appreciation on my part, thanks to a very special class that highlighted the origins and history of it.
Movies:I watched Moulin Rouge last night, but I know it well enough that I can go about my other household chores as it plays, I actually play it more for the soundtrack at this point! Before that I watched The Other Boleyn Girl, and before that It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, so I am across the board interested in everything, foreign films included. A favorite of mine is Chungking Express, another, The Professional...am I the only one that thinks its weird that Natalie Portman, the vegan, did a pro-Wal-Mart movie?! That's kinda screwy.
TV:Dexter, Weeds, It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, Northern Exposure, Sex and The City, blah,blah...
Books:Right now I'm reading The Personal Narrative of Frederick Douglas and his essay and other writings, I was inspired to read it by my last book, Kindred, by Octavia Butler--which I found intriguing! After the former, I will attempt to read either the second volume of Living My Life, by Emma Goldman, or The Left Hand of Darkness by Ursula K. LeGuin. I also like Tome Robbins alot, Paolo Coelho, Maxine Hong Kingston, Alice Hoffman, Chuck Palahniuk, Alice Walker, and Isabel Allende. To name a few. I don't think that's being snobby, but open.
Heroes/Idols:I loved learning about the poet Gwendolyn Brooks growing up, I thought of her as my ideal kind of person, she didn't feel the need to live beyond her means, and she gave back to HER community. Also, Maxine Hong Kingston, Emma Goldman, Frida Kahlo, anybody unafraid to be themselves.
