| Job Number ONE - The Profile |
|
I just updated my referral help website with this and wanted to pass it along here for those not on my Referral Tree to use too.
If you just want to have fun on Yuwie you can skip this, but if you're here to produce as much income as possible it's important to consider these simple points.
- Your profile page is YOU as far as your vistors are concerned, so keep that in mind as you create or update it. Do It Early to take advantage of being on the new members page that brings a short burst of visitors and pass this on to your referrals right away.
- This is a Social Network, so PRIVATE PROFILES are against everything you should be trying to do here. Make sure Everyone can view your profile, request your friendship or leave a comment as long as you approve them. Do this by clicking the 'Account Settings' icon (top left gears) on your control panel, then click 'Privacy Settings'. You'll build more relationships if you show your age and location too.
- Don't be bashful, put your photo on your page and make it one that will attract others. Click 'Edit Profile' and 'Change Your Photo' to upload it. I don't know too many people who would go Speed Dating with a ski mask on, do you? You can also change your Display Name here.
- If you're serious about attracting more friends, don't start out by using a vulgar or rude slogan, borderline porn for a photo or anything else that will wave red flags. That should be obvious, but it would surprise you how often I see it here. Maybe they don't care about making a good first impression???
- Fill out your Bio and Interests honestly. People want to know who you are to build relationships and that's what you need to gain maximum advantage of your profile. Telling them you make a $500,000 Income when you obviously don't will do more harm than good.
- The Interests do allow HTML input, but keep it easy to view your page without scrolling sideways and don't advertise your other opportunities. It doesn't work anyway and makes you look self-serving instead of friendly. You don't launch into a big pitch when you meet a stranger on the street, do you? Well, don't do it here.
- The Shoutbox is also open to HTML input. If you want some simple tutorials on how to use it, visit W3Schools.com and check out the HTML section. Again, don't fill it with ad banners and pitches, make it encourage people to stay and come back often.
- Change Your Layout! It's simple to do and you can go back anytime, so there is NO RISK of screwing it up. Click Layouts in the top menu and preview a few by clicking on their name until you find one you like, then click the 'Use This Layout' button. If you are familiar with CSS Layouts or want to download your favorite MySpace Layout, you can do this too. One simple change is to substitute your own background photo, but make it 1024X768 and reduce the colors to load fast. MAKE SURE YOU CAN READ THE TEXT AGAINST THE BACKGROUND.
- Upload some pictures and make new albums when you can. This shows up on the Friend Feed and can bring you more page views. ADD CAPTIONS and it increases interest. People want to know what they are looking at. If your pictures are interesting enough, they will even send their friends to increase your page views even more. Just keep your personal image in mind here.
- Start a Blog, even if it's just an introduction to who you are. If you can supply quality information that helps others, it will maximize your page views. It also helps if you keep it regular so they know when to look for it.
- Finally, keep having fun and it will show through in everything you do here.
