Rant About Referral Links

There's been a recent trend lately that has really annoyed me.  I know in some cases users mean no harm by it so don't take this personal, learn from it rather than getting offended.  The trend is for people to click a link, end up on my blog and then think it is okay to leave a comment with referral links to their programs.

First, there's no secret that I promote other programs here in my blog.  But before you go screaming that I'm spamming or abusing Yuwie, understand that I'm here to network and meet people first.  Part of socializing is telling others about things you do.

That said, Korry (YGuy) once suggested that if you wanted to advertise here, you should buy advertising.  Well guess what, I did and I pay for it.  See the text link ad that says "Earn $1/Day While Surfing Yuwie."  That's me and I pay for that ad which helps increase your RSR.

So don't come to my page and post your referral links to your programs as a comment to my blog and try to get a free ride on my dime.  If you want to chip in on the advertising that I pay for, contact me by message and I'll let you pay a share of my advertising and I will get you a link in on the list if the program meets my standards and is one I would be comfortable promoting.

The next error people make is not so much an error but instead poor strategy.  I get a fair volume of messages daily from people telling me I should join their favorite Get Paid To program with a referral link.  Unfortunately, they typically do not catch my interest and get deleted.  And make no mistake, I am interested in Get Paid To programs.

But when I want someone else to be interested in them, I try to provide something of value.  Or as an alternate, I pay for advertising to try to get other peoples attention to it.  So how do you get my attention and suggest a program to me?  Simple, you provide me some value for it.

The idea message would be as follows:

Hey A.J.,

I just read your blog and appreciate the list of programs you offer.  I already do program1 and program3 and program5 but have never heard of the others.  I joined program2 (my username is xxxxxxxx) and program4 (my username is xxxxxxxx) and program9 (my username is xxxxxxxx).  I think I'm going to really like program9 based on my first few days there.

I noticed you don't have programZ on the list.  I have been doing that one for 3 weeks and get an average of 30 clicks per day.  They paid me once already (it took 4 days to get my cash out).  I thought I'd give you a heads up about programZ.  My referral link is xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx if you are interested.

Thanks!

That letter has a 70 to 80% chance of getting me enrolled in that program as a result (assuming I'm not already in it).  Not every program I do is listed here.  In fact, if you want my attention, do your home work first and visit my blog Blogging For Pennies and subscribe to get automatic updates to learn about other programs as I write about them.

So here is a list of programs I do daily.  You know now how to get my attention.  Good luck!

These are two micro programs that I do as well (small earnings but pay out every week no matter how much or little you earn):  If you like Get Paid To programs, you should sign up to get e-mail updates from my other blog where I write about my attempt to earn money from Get Paid To programs and a blog about them.  style="BORDER-RIGHT: #ccc 1px solid; PADDING-RIGHT: 3px; BORDER-TOP: #ccc 1px solid; PADDING-LEFT: 3px; PADDING-BOTTOM: 3px; BORDER-LEFT: #ccc 1px solid; PADDING-TOP: 3px; BORDER-BOTTOM: #ccc 1px solid; TEXT-ALIGN: center" onsubmit="window.open('http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverifySubmit?feedId=1446913', 'popupwindow', 'scrollbars=yes,width=550,height=520');return true" action=http://www.feedburner.com/fb/a/emailverify method=post target=popupwindow>

I also agree with what you're saying. Just a warning incase you didn't know, bux3 is not an affiliate site to bux.to if that's what you thought. They have a list of authentic affiliate sites on bux.to and that one isn't there. I was using it until I found out it wasn't a real sister site. It might be legit but I didn't want to risk it. I was told that it was the same ip as another site that just got taken down for being bogus, I'm not sure what the name was. I'll check back and let you know if you'd like. I have the link in my blog about the affiliate sites if you want to see for yourself.

Agree totally.... those that wants to promots should set up a lemon stand outside their own door... lol ... instead of inside our homes. I get these all the time. They don't leave a 'how are you?' message... instead they use our home to graffiti on it...lol I have to clean my walls all the time.
